The Arroyo Bodonal Cooperative started in 2003 in Tres Cantos, when a group of young people from the area decided to develop an 80-home complex with sustainable construction criteria, which would be energetically efficient and respect the environment. From the outset, the cooperative worked with ACRE Arquitectura for advice on choosing the land and designing the building project. Furthermore, Carlos Nieto Gómez, the project architect, formed part of the committee managing the development.

The solar thermal power plant Soluz Guzmán is located in the municipal district of Palma del Río, Córdoba. With installed capacity of 49.9 MWe, the plant uses cylindrical parabolic collectors in its solar park.  With an annual production of 108.5 m kWh, Soluz Guzmán will be able to cover the electricity needs of about 30,000 homes, avoiding CO2 emissions of over 108,500 t a year.

Smurfit Kappa Nervión S.A. is an integrated producer of pulp and kraft paper for bags. It belongs to the Smurfit Kappa Group, a leading producer worldwide of paper and cardboard

based packaging. The company has successfully completed the modernisation of its industrial complex in Iurreta (Vizcaya). The plan concluded with the start-up of a biomass cogeneration plant. The new 21.4 MW steam condensation turbine has increased power generation capacity at the mill by over 40%, to more than 120,000 MWh per year of renewable energy. This represents an energy self-sufficiency rate of more than 65%.

The main novelty the solar thermal power plant of Morón provides to the sector is its excellent management of water and waste, being considered a "zero wastes" power plant.
