Spain’s National Energy Commission asks for ideas to put an end to the tariff deficit

The Spanish National Energy Commission (CNE) has been asked by the Ministry of Energy, Industry and Tourism to publish a report on the regulatory adjustment measures that could be taken in the energy sector, in particular measures to address the evolution of the tariff deficit in the electricity sector and avoid a possible structural deficit for the period 2012-2015 in the gas sector.

The Council of the Commission agreed in its meeting yesterday to open a public consultation process in order to gather opinions and suggestions from all the stakeholders related to the changes, if any, that could be introduced in the regulatory framework today.

The response from the agents to the public consultation should be sent to the CNE, before February 10, 2012, at the following addresses:

- Measures for the adjustment of the electricity sector: medidasregulatoriaselectricidad@cne.es
- Measures for the adjustment of the gas system: medidasregulatoriasgas@cne.es
- Measures for the adjustment of the liquid hydrocarbons industry: medidasregulatoriaspetroleo@cne.es

All the responses will be considered non-confidential and sent to the Spanish Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism. The CNE shall prepare a report within a month to be released on its website: www.cne.es
